Plan for Sat. April 2nd

Finally, this Saturday we will be riding outside.

This week's we will be riding the April 2nd - 37 mi route - updated 3/30 route found in the Route Files page of the website.

This route is 50% gravel and 50% paved and has 1,000ft. of elevation gain. It features many of our familiar gravel roads like 180th, Ingersoll, 140th, and May Ave. There is a C-store stop at Big Marine Store around mile 27 should anyone need facilities. From there it's fast gravel on 180th and a slightly different return up horse hill and Lutz before hitting the 2 mile tarmac on Oneka Lake for a fast re-entry to Hugo. Plan for 3-3.5hrs of working hard.

Bike choice:

Bring your gravel road bike. If you haven't tuned it up or adjusted it yet and need to bring your MTB or Fatbike, that works too. Please make sure someone else will be riding one with similar gearing with you.

We will likely have two or three paces of folks - expressos, mochas and cappuccinos, or whatever you want to call them. You will find your fit.

This is about sharing the love of gravel, training for events, and making new friends, not about whose the fastest among us.

The pace of the main group will average around 14-14.5mph. The gravel will be soft and mushy and zap the power out of your legs. We are not out to drop anyone or show off our egos. But some will ride faster, some will ride slower, you will likely find someone to ride with if you don't bring a buddy. Some will re-group at the end of different segments.

The route is a suggestion. If you want more miles, have at it. If you need to cut it short, that's great too.

Riding to the meet up is a great way to add extra miles.

What you need to do before the ride:

1. Fill out the waiver if you haven't.

2. Download the route.

3. Print the cue sheet.

4. Check out the area/map.

If you are not familiar with the area, please see the FAQ section of the website here. At the bottom is a map that shows the general area. Please know the route, and your way back. This is a self-supported ride and we want to be sure you will return safely.

Start is at 9am. Please arrive by 8:45am. Pre-ride talk a few minutes before we depart. There is a bathroom and food in the Festival/Dunn Bros. coffee shop.

Plan to stick around afterwards for a hot cup of coffee and chat.
